How is White Dot different from other messaging apps?
White Dot is built from the ground up with privacy as the foundation, not a feature. Every message, media file, and call is end-to-end encrypted by default. We do not collect message content, contact lists, or location data. There are no ads, no data selling, and no tracking — ever. Most messaging apps add security as an afterthought; White Dot is security-first by design.
How much does White Dot cost?
White Dot is a premium app. Pricing starts at $4.99/month or $29.99/year (save over 50%). Prices may vary slightly by region due to local taxes, inflation, and market conditions. There are no ads, no data mining, and no hidden costs — your subscription directly funds the development and infrastructure that keep your messages private.
Is there a free trial?
We occasionally offer free trials and promotional periods. Check the app or our website for current offers. All subscriptions come with a 14-day refund policy if you're not satisfied.
Can you read my messages?
No. White Dot uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Messages are encrypted on your device and can only be decrypted by the recipient's device. We do not have access to the encryption keys, and we cannot read your messages even if compelled by law. This is a core architectural commitment, not a policy we can change.
What information does White Dot collect about me?
We collect only what is strictly necessary: your phone number (for account creation and contact discovery), your display name and optional profile picture, device information for push notifications, and anonymized usage metrics. We do not collect message content, contact lists, location, call recordings, or browsing data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. All your data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Messages sent to other users will remain on their devices, as those are encrypted with keys we do not possess.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Since encryption keys are stored in your device's secure hardware, we cannot recover your messages if you lose your phone. This is a deliberate privacy protection. You can deactivate your account by contacting support, which will prevent new messages from being sent to that device.
Can I use White Dot on multiple devices?
Yes. White Dot supports secure multi-device sync. Each device has its own encryption keys, and messages are securely synced between your devices through encrypted channels. Your messages remain unreadable to our servers during transit.
How do you handle government data requests?
Because of our zero-knowledge architecture, we cannot provide message content even when legally required to do so. We may disclose limited metadata (such as account creation date) when presented with a valid legal request. We notify affected users unless prohibited by law. Our Transparency Report details all government requests we receive.
Is White Dot open source?
White Dot's cryptographic libraries and certain security-critical components are open source for community review. The full application code is currently proprietary. We are working toward making more of our code available for independent security auditing.
How do I report a bug or security issue?
For security vulnerabilities, please email security@whitedot.chat. We operate a responsible disclosure program and welcome reports from security researchers. For general bugs, use the in-app report feature or email support@whitedot.chat.
What third-party services does White Dot use?
We use a minimal set of infrastructure providers to operate the service. All are bound by strict data processing agreements. A complete list is available on our Subprocessors page.
